Sun Valley Extravaganza

Friday, Jed had a conference in Sun Valley (a little over an hour north of us) and he was actually "allowed" to bring his wife! :) I sat in on the four meetings and followed along pretty well with 2 out of the 4 seminars. Then there was a dinner (paid for) and then we had a room at the Sun Valley Resort (also paid for!). Nothing better than a free weekend away! :) For those of you who don't know what Sun Valley is, (I didn't before I moved here) it's the nations first ski resort and a much sought after vacation spot. There was a movie filmed here and supposedly Bruce Willis has a home up here somewhere. Sun Valley oozes money....it's quite intimidating, but fun to visit and dream, which is exactly what we did.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't so nice while we were there. Lots of rain and a tad cool.

The Sun Valley Resort Lodge

There were these little sun faces everywhere....go figure.

Skiing anyone? It made me want to learn how!

Ok, story time!!! :) So, the resort has a few ponds around and one out in front of the lodge. I noticed the pretty swans on our way in to check in, but after we headed back out for dinner they weren't in the pond. As we were walking to the car I spotted them right next to the sidewalk. I desperately wanted a picture of one and getting one so close, well, what a treat! So being that I only had my cell phone on me at the time, I whipped it out and got ready to take the picture of the Momma, Papa, and babies. I was only about 4 feet away and I realized that the Papa kept coming closer to me.....hmmm..."Maybe I should move....nah"..........Then he reared his head and BAM!!!! Tried to bite me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily I jumped out of the way and was missed by mere inches! I screamed and ran and needless to say, Jed was laughing....hard. I about wet my pants! I just wanted a picture dude! Sheesh!!!! So, then it was like a challenge. Now, of course I needed an actual photo for the blog and as were were leaving they were hanging out in their pond again. So I figured I was safer, although Papa Swan still came right over to me like, "come any closer and I'm gonna pop you!" Mean little suckers!

So, of course Jed had to get him going. But notice, he didn't stick his hand out there! Scared Jed? :)

See?! Trying to bite!!!

Momma and the babies coming closer

The babies were actually really cute. Such pretty birds...and BIG! Too bad they have a bad attitude!!!

I noticed this post attack....but this is an understatement! It should say, "Don't look at the swans wrong or they will go postal on you!"

Our swanky (and free!) room

What do you see Jed?

After we checked out we walked and drove around and got some shots. It's amazing what money can buy.

Jed looking thrilled

The day we left it was June 6th.........Princess Raja Roo's 4th Birthday!!! So, on our way out I spotted this and we had to stop! Of course I bought her a birthday present....blog to follow. :)

We were driving all over the place. Up all sorts of side streets just gauking at the all the beautiful homes.

Absolutely amazing

This one was awesome! It was made to look like a barn, but it was a house. There is like a red silo on the back side and when we got close enough there was a creek running through part of it. I want this house for Christmas please! :)

This house was for sale. There was a sign out front with a website on it. So, for fun, when I got back, I got online to check it out. Guess how much the homes in Sun Valley were going for......go ahead, just guess..............1 million.......2 million??? NOPE!!!!! Some were going for $19 milllllllionnnnn dolllllarrrs!!!! WHAT?! Holy smokes!!!! Ahhh, but to dream.....

Almost all the houses had these brick driveways, which I later found out are heated, so no plowing needed in the winter....SWEET!

This house wasn't as amazing as some of the others, but the way they stacked their wood was totally awesome! You can't really see it but if you click on the picture to enlarge it you'll see right it above the driveway. Cool beans!

And my souvenier.....the tiny jam that was left over from my english muffin that I stole. I've never seen one in a glass jar so tiny. :)

All in all, a fun weekend out (and free!) and we would like to go back up when the weather is nicer and climb some of the moutains and maybe take the crazy Izz-meister!

OOh, it looks so pretty there!
Glad you had a nice time. Didn't you know Swans are (can be) mean?! The ones at Sprague's are the same way!
I, also, have a itty-bitty jam jar like that, that I saved. They're cute!
And 19-million $$ homes? They are amazing - Start saving, eh?
