Fore!

For my early birthday present, Jed bought me a set of golf clubs....pink no less! :) So we went out Sunday for my first time in three years. I was ready to make a fool of myself. It went better than I (or Jed, I'm sure...) expected. We only got to golf the first 6 holes, though. Stinkin dust storm!!! Thought I was caught in a hurricane of dust!!!

Hmm....I wonder who's was who's?

First swing

Going to get my ball out of the weeds....oops! But from the weeds I pitched it nicely on the green! Wahoo!

Showoff!!! :)

I was about to get par on this hole, had I gotten this put, but alas, I got a bogey. :( Keep practicing!!!

Baby birds

One night, Jed and I and the kids were out in the backyard grilling, and I noticed a tiny little chirping and then I spotted a tiny baby bird on the ground beneath a tree. I looked up to see if there was a nest it fell out of, but didn't see anything. I noticed another baby bird nearby, but that one was dead. I didn't know what to do and I wasn't about to chew up worms and spit them into it's mouth, so I left it alone hoping the Mama bird would come back and get it.

He was a hungry little fella. Poor guy!

A bit later, Izzy found another baby bird near one of our lilac bushes but this one was a bit older. Then I looked in the bush and saw a couple other baby birds all huddled together. So I figured the younger one would have a better chance being with this group so I got an old rag and transferred him and hoped for the best. I am uncertain if any of them made it. I wouldn't let myself look the next day because I knew I'd be upset if they were dead. So I just like to think they all survived and lived happily ever after! :)

Owl Pellets

As most of you know, we had a few regular owl visitors in our backyard all winter. They seem to have moved on for the summer, but they've left their mark on our yard. I had seen a dirty jobs episode about owl vomit and never knew they did that. It said that after they ate a mouse or whatever they vomited all the fur and bones and such back up and Mike Rowe, the dirty jobs host, had to collect the owl pellets. I thought it was kind of interesting....until they covered my backyard with pellets. So here they are!

Lots and lots of owl pellets......ew

Who's been sleeping in my bed?

One night we went to put Izzy to bed (yes, she gets tucked into bed!) and we found a little surprise in her bed.....

A NessNess! "What? Don't bother me. I'm sleeping!"

Izz says, "This is my bed! But we can share!" Ness says, "No way! Are you nuts?? I don't share with dogs! I'm outta here!"

"Dad's chair is more comfy anyway."

"Mom's chair isn't bad either."

What a monster!

An official Idahoan....or am I.....???

Got my new license plates in the mail today. I was quite sad about my license plates no longer saying "New York" so........

I'm quite pleased at how they turned out! :) You can take the girl out of New York but you can't take the New York out of the girl! And supporting agriculture to boot!

A day at the falls with the Barnes clan

Since Jed only has one (partial) day off, we usually like to get out and do something. The weather was so nice, we just decided to head over to Shoshone falls with Izzy and hike around.

A family picture! Some random nice guy offered to take out picture. It isn't a great picture, but oh well.

Jed and Izzers

Izzers and me

It was over 80 out so we brought Izzy a bottle of water. She's a champ at drinking straight out of the bottle. :)

Izz and me on a big rock

We noticed this little cove and of course that means....

Jed and Izzy climbed up for a picture.

They made it....hard to see Izz, but she's in there

Coming back down the steep hill....a.k.a.-why I didn't go up. I would have fallen down and taken everyone with me!

Izzy and I are in there somewhere....we are kind of camouflaged

A rainbow....so pretty!

Izzy and Shoshone Falls. She was a VERY good girl. We weren't sure how well she'd be with all the people around, but we were pleasantly surprised. She seemed most interested in small children and there were some dogs she was DYING to play with. All in all, the best behaved pup ever! :) What a fun day!

And They're Off!

One of Jed's co-workers, Martin (pronounced Marteen), owns a race horse and invited us to the races at the Pocatello Downs to see him run on Mother's Day. His horse ran in the second race. There were 11 total. We stayed for about half of them....then got hungry. :) I desperately tried to get a picture of the race, but it turned out to be more difficult than I thought! haha!

Missed it....but the guy in the white t-shirt is pretty excited!

After the race. This is Martin's horse...he came in 4th.

Try #2....just barely got it. Ugh!

Between races, you can go over and check out the next race's horses. I picked the ones with the biggest butts. :)

Jed Daniel....and I'm in the reflection in his sunglasses! :)

UGH!!!! Still didn't really get them!

After that race...the owners go out and see their horse.

The last race and the best photo I could get. It was a lot of fun, so hopefully next time I'll have better luck with the pictures.

A Walk in the Desert. (aka-our backyard)

Since it has gotten warmer, I have been itching to get out of the house and get some exercise. We do live on a back road, which you would think we could easily walk on, but there is way too much traffic from the farm including large trucks stirring up dust and hauling loads of manure.....which means dust and a not so pleasant smell. So, there is a dirt road that goes out behind our house into the desert which they use to get to all the irrigation pivots. I took Izz with me and we tried it out. The second time we went while Jed was still at work and came within about 300 feet of a coyote. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. :( So, the next time I took Jed and my camera. :)

Jed and Izz

Found this footprint in the dried mud. Any ideas what it could be??

Footprint compared next to my foot

Izz and I in the alfalfa

Izzy loves the alfalfa, so we decided to try her off the leash and.....

She ran...

and ran....

and ran.... (Every once in a while she'd turn around and make sure we were still there. "Are you guys coming??")

and ran.....

and ran.....

AND RAN!!!! I've never seen a happier dog! So cute :)
