For the birds

The other day, I was sitting in the living room watching t.v. when I heard a thud against the large picture window. I immediately knew what it was....a birdie! :( Against my better judgment, I got up and looked down on the ground just beneath the window and the poor little baby was just laying there on the ground. Another bird even came and started attacking her! That did it!!!! Most of you know that I couldn't just leave her there. (Yes, I am truly crazy!) So I had a little basket and I lined it with an old washcloth, put some gloves on and went outside to get her. I had NO idea what to do with her once I had her , but I knew I couldn't leave her out there to die! When I went to pick her up, she was barely breathing. Almost sure she would soon die, I brought her in the house and closed her in the bathroom next to the heating vent. She actually opened her eyes a tad and I got to thinking....maybe I better put her in something in case she makes it and I'm stuck trying to catch a bird flying around the bathroom. So, I put her in a pet carrier and left her alone for about an hour. I went back in to check on her, assuming she would be dead, but she was actually looking around. I removed the washcloth from around her and shortly after, she got up and started walking around the cage. (Good thing I put her in a cage!) Then she started to flutter and try to get out. Yay!!! So I took the cage back outside, opened the door and away she flew!!! I was happy as a lark! (No pun intended, haha!) And of course, I got a few pictures for the blog! :)

All wrapped up and a bit dazed and confused.

"I think I feel better now. I am ready to fly! Thank you, Laura for saving my life!" (At least this is what I imagined her saying...haha!)

Hooray for Laura the birdie rescuer!!!! We always said you would need a big barn or something where you could look after all of your charity cases. =D

What a cute little bird - good thing you are there to save lives!!

She does look like she's saying, "I'm all better now, thank you. Now, I must fly away!"

I definitely do need a very large barn for all my rescues! :) It would be a dream come true! I am not sure Jed would feel the same way though haha!
